Guitar, Piano, Mandolin, Bass, Dobro, Percussion
I began playing music on the piano around the age of ten or so,
mostly classical. Mozart was an early favorite for me, but I wanted a
guitar. I finally got a guitar around the end of the eighth grade, and
was playing in gigs with a local band within a month or so of getting
my first guitar. I continued playing in rock bands, and around the
eleventh grade, I started studing classical guitar as well. After high
school, I went off to college and continued studing classical guitar,
as well as playing in different types of bands,..mostly rock, r&b, and
country styles etc.. I also began studing jazz, and playing in the big
bands at college, as well as smaller combo bands. In college I
studied lot's of theory, and classical composition, as well as jazz,
and jazz arranging and composition, and conducting and arranging
for classical orchestra. After college, I started teaching as well,
which was a regular job for me for a decade or so. I continued to
study and play classical and jazz guitar and study the piano. Years
later, started developing and appreciating many other mostly
acoustic music styles, such as bluegrass, celtic and irish music, and
started taking up some different acoustic instruments, such as
mandolin, dobro, and ukelele. I continue playing various styles of
music today, both acoustic and electric, wherever my heart leads
me.
